Obama is indeed looking long range. Only by spreading the cost of predictable, systemic financial disasters such as cap and trade and socialized medicine over decades is he able to conjure up enough wealth to make people believe that we can actually afford all this crap.

sac.ri.fice n. - a euphemistic term used by politicians to hide from their constituents the fact that they (the constituents) are getting screwed.

You set up a situation in which Obama cannot fail. If the stimulus had not passed you would say the economy is worse because of that fact. The stimulus did pass and you say the economy would have been worse without it. In either case you have no proof. Have you considered the fact that messing around with the economy may be prolonging things?

You can apply your logic towards any policy if you wish... whether it be Bush, Clinton, Obama, etc.

Our children were doomed to carry this burden from the policies set forth long before Obama. True, many parts of the stimulus package are quick fixes. Had they not been done, the country would have wallowed in a deeper recession for a longer period of time. The "quick fixes" are only part of the solution. Obama is looking long-range and setting up programs to prevent the financial disasters we have witnessed and to which many have been victimized. True growth is often painful and requires sacrifices.

There are no "quick fixes" only long, slow mistakes which are daily occurences in Washington.

Yes, you can go after the source data but not the fact that Bill Clinton tried to pass some very Left Wing bills into law in the same pattern as Obama and was trounced.

askcherlock-
I don't think Bush can fully be blamed for the current economic situation. For example, the collapse of the housing market and subsequent banking frauds had their roots in the early 90's, and not in the last Bush administration.

and BTW, many parts of this stimulus bill are quick fixes. i fear they will eventually burden my kids.
